ACT College and University Division Festival

Call for Submissions

Faculty Playwrights:

  • The ACT College/University Division presents ACT Festival 2009, a reading of a faculty/staff written play.
  • Submissions can be any length.
  • Only two scripts per playwright and these entries should be submitted in Microsoft Word or PDF format via email.
  • Submission will be read and scored by an ACT committee.
  • The committee will select one play to be read by theatre faculty on the Friday night of the ACT Festival, October 16, 2009.
  • The deadline for submission is August 1, 2009.
  • The final play list will be announced at ACT Summit 2009.

Student Playwrights:

  • The ACT College/University Division presents ACT Festival 2009, a festival of student written one act plays.
  • Submissions should be (10) ten to (20) twenty minutes in length.
  • Only two scripts per playwright and these entries should be submitted in Microsoft Word or PDF format via email.
  • Submission will be read and scored by an ACT committee. The committee will select between three and six plays.
  • The deadline for submission is August 1, 2009.
  • The final play list will be announced at ACT Summit 2009.
  • The plays will be performed on the Saturday night of the ACT Festival October 17, 2009.

Note: Each entry shall be free from copyright restrictions and the author agrees to hold ACT, its officers and director free and harmless from all copyright claims.  We reserve the right to reproduce as many copies of the play as are necessary for the distribution to the judges and participants in the production, record the performance for archival purposes, use the title, author’s name and images from the production for publicity purposes related to the ACT Festival.

Mission

The Alabama Conference of Theatre serves the purpose of improving the quality of theatre arts on all levels throughout the State of Alabama; encouraging the further development of theatre arts activity; creating a closer relationship among theater arts people at all levels; training audiences to a greater appreciation of theatre arts; and cooperating and maintaining a close, helpful relationship with other individuals and organizations within or without the State of Alabama, who entertain an interest in theatre arts.
